Go for Goal Soccer Camp
For new and recreational players, as well as those playing on competitive teams. Skill areas include dribbling, passing, trapping and shooting. Players will also learn the basics of attacking and defending in one on one and small group situations. Topics will be developed in drills and in small sided games.
Our camp is based on two proven concepts: SOCCER IS FUN and LEARNING IS WINNING. The soccer is fun program teaches young players the game and its elements through fun activities and small sided games. The old method of drills is a thing of the past. Students only learn when they have fun in the activities their involved in. The learning is winning program emphasizes the use of learned skills in the games they play. Thus, scoring is based on a player’s willingness to display the skills in a game environment. The successful execution of a movement or skill is the payoff for their hard work!
“CERF” Philosophy
- Keep it Competitive for all players
- Educate players through drills and small sided games.
- No more than 10:1 player/coach Ratio
- Maintain it Fun for players

The Cathedral soccer program has earned another league title. The soccer team made its claim as the team of the decade, by winning 8 league titles in the past decade. Congratulations go to the current team and past student athletes that have made this possible. The soccer team now sets its sight on the playoffs. The playoffs will start Thursday, February 18 at Cathedral. The time and opponent will be announced shortly.
Congratulations also go out to the JV and Freshmen soccer teams for their outstanding seasons. The soccer program consists of over 25 freshmen and therefore the teams have a lot of youth. With that said the teams competed at a high level, and will continue to work in the off season to be ready for next year. We look forward to season these young student athletes develop and continue the winning traditions of the Cathedral soccer program.

On friday the 15th, the Phantoms welcomed Bosco Tech to the Graveyard for their first home league game. Cathedral started of strong right of the bat. During the first 10 minutes of the game the Purple&White created a few breakaways but were not able to capitalize on them. The Phantoms were aggresive from the start and kept winning 50/50 balls at midfield and quickly transitioning into offense. This caught the Tiger defense off guard allowing substitute Jonathon Leiva(Jr.) to score on a breakaway with ease putting the home team upfront 1-0 of an assist from Victor R.(Fr.). The Phantoms kept playing smart holding on to possesion and creating chances for goal through combination plays from the flanks. Eventually it payed off with five minutes left in the half when Alfonso R.(Jr.) scored on a one time shot off a cross from Andrew Billie(Fr.). The half ended 2-0 with the home team leading the way.
During the second half the Phantoms kept the high pressure up and maintained possesion through out the rest of the game. Cathedral came close a few times to scoring but were only able to strike goal once with a through ball from Alan E. (So.) to Andrew B.(Fr.) who simply beat the right defender and goalkeeper by toe-poking the ball into the net. For the second game in a row the Phantoms were able to keep their swagger up front and managed to dictate the game defensively. The JV team now (6-1-1) could have not asked for a better way to start first week of league. The team is playing real well at the moment, but there is no doubt there are areas still to be worked on and hopefully improve on. Cathedral hopes to ride their 3-game win streak this week against another tough opponent La Salle High School.

Cathedral's first freshman game versus Verbum Dei proved to be a good showing from the Phantoms. Two goals by Kevin Jardines ended any chance for Verbum Dei. The Phantoms dominated shots on goal and time of possession. Great Job Freshman!
